Student report from EuroSense 2026

E3S Eurosense Student Pieter Punter Award 2026 – Holly Giles

During the conference, I had the opportunity to present a summary of the key findings from my PhD at the University of Reading in a talk titled “Age-associated differences in saliva and their relationship with textural perception of whey protein drinks.”

My research highlights the importance of salivary characteristics, including viscosity and mucin concentration, in sensory perception, with relevant implications for the sensory science community.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to share my work and to connect with friends, both new and old! I am coming away from EuroSense with a full heart of appreciation for our sensory community, and a full brain of ideas!

I have recently started a postdoctoral position at University College Dublin, where I am working on the SWEETWISE project. I hope to be able to share some of the results from this work at EuroSense 2028!
