Report from EuroSense 2024

E3S EuroSense Student Awards 2024Ansung Kim

After an unforgettable experience at my first EuroSense conference in 2022, I was fortunate to attend the 11th EuroSense Conference, "A Sense of Global Culture," held in Dublin, Ireland. From the grand opening featuring traditional Irish dancing and music, the conference immersed participants in a vibrant sensory experience.

Eurosense 2024 highlighted the role of sensory and consumer sciences and their future in addressing the many challenges we face today in an increasingly globalised world. It provided an excellent platform to meet and exchange insights with sensory and consumer science experts from around the world through interesting oral presentations, workshops, keynotes and poster sessions.

This year was particularly special for me, as I was honoured to receive the E3S Eurosense Student Award for the second time. I am deeply grateful to the European Sensory Science Society (E3S) for recognising my work 'Chef's or guests' choices: Impact of authority and social claims on consumers' menu choice', and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my supervisors for their continuous support throughout my PhD journey.

Overall, my experience at EuroSense 2024 has been incredibly valuable as I work towards finalising my PhD and prepare to transition into an early-career researcher. The conference was a feast for the senses, organised with thoughtful attention to detail.

With this wonderful experience behind me, I am eagerly looking forward to attending Eurosense again in 2026, which will be held in Norway
