OPEN POSITION AS ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN SENSORY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE
AT UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN

University of Copenhagen, Department of Food Science invites applications for a position as associate professor in Sensory and Consumer Science.
The Associate Professor´s duties will primarily include education within sensory evaluation and research in food choice and acceptance. The Associate Professor should provide new knowledge about sensory barriers and drivers for food choice and acceptance, especially in cultures of emerging markets and elderly. The position should support the long-term development of healthy, palatable and acceptable foods for these market segments. The knowledge and mechanisms of food acceptance learning in these consumer groups should be utilised in collaborations with national and international partners.
The duties include obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching. The research is expected to be conducted in collaboration with other research groups, municipalities, retail organisations as well as with food industry. The duties will also include research management, educational guidance and supervision of PhD students and Post Docs professional assessment work.
The appointee should have qualifications within several of the following areas:
- Sensory science
- Consumer science
- Food science and nutrition
- Behavioural psychology
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required in order to obtain a permanent position.
Duties include the applicant´s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 444,165 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 75,952).
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
